Welcome to MiltonWeb,
Milton's Online Community. Established in 2002 as
a FREE resource for residents of Milton and surrounding areas
our site is wholeheartedly dedicated to providing Miltonians
with the best possible resource for information about our
growing town. While Milton has grown as a town so too has
MiltonWeb as a community site. Our site has grown from
only a handful of pages and 5 000 hits monthly (July 2002) to
over 800 000 hits each and every month! In fact, in
January of 2008 alone we received over 900 000 hits!
This is in no small part due to the support of local residents
and businesses. |

|
Why "Milton's Online Community?"
We originally chose the phrase "Milton's Online Community"
along with "Search
Milton" when MiltonWeb first went
live in 2002. Milton has always had that small "community" feel.
Although growing, Milton has kept that small town atmosphere
while creating an
ever-expanding base of services to suit
the needs of all residents. The
tough part however
is that it's becoming
more and more difficult to keep up with the new developments in
town.
Finding information about the town of Milton (new businesses,
services, schools etc.) can be burdensome at best. That is
why we developed an "Online Community" to keep Miltonians
connected. |
| |
| Who
runs MiltonWeb? Let me introduce myself. My
name is Chris Edwards and I moved to
Milton, Ontario with my parents in 1974
at the age of 2.
Living here my entire life has allowed
me to grow with Milton and love our town with all my heart. Now,
at the age of 35 I find myself with my
own young family (complete with three
'little ones') and I can say I'm proud
to raise my own family in this wonderful
town!
How
did MiltonWeb come to be? MiltonWeb arose out of
a problem I encountered back in 2000.
I had been searching online for some
basic information about local businesses
and services available in the town.
In fact I believe I was searching for
the phone number to a local restaurant.
I spent upwards of an hour trying to
find one number without any luck.
Yes I could have simply walked over and
grabbed a phonebook but was adamant that
the number must exist somewhere
online. I was wrong.
In the end my wife and I went to a
different restaurant but had a great
conversation surrounding the lack of
information about our town. It was
then that I decided to begin the arduous
task of compiling a comprehensive,
up-to-date database of Milton specific
information.
The task took nearly
two years from drawing board to
completion but was well worth it.
By the time MiltonWeb was finished it
was the only complete (and up-to-date)
database of information about Milton.
With the help of many individuals
(spending many hours typing) MiltonWeb
had been finished with more than 1200
individual businesses being listed (and
YES, you could easily find their phone
numbers!). In addition, MiltonWeb
continued to expand while adding further
information that included local
important numbers (fire, ambulance,
police, town hall etc.), community
services, sports, youth programs, new
and resale housing in Milton, local
tourist attractions, area schools, parks
and recreation (including Conservation
Halton Information) and many, many other
links. |

SO... That is why we developed "Milton's Online
Community". The internet (and more
specifically,
MiltonWeb) allows residents to complete a
Milton
Search simply by clicking on the "Search
Milton" button located at the top of
every page. In addition, visitors further refine their
search clicking on the "search within
this page" buttons located throughout
the site. We are proud to
say that, since 2002,
MiltonWeb has been
"often imitated but never duplicated".
We continue to be the
number one
searched site in Milton. Our hits
have grown exponentially over the past
few years seeing an average of
OVER 800 000 hits monthly (all looking for
information about Milton, Ontario).
We continue to update the site on a
daily basis. In fact, just keeping
up with the new businesses opening in
town is a full time endeavour! |
| |
| Take some
time to peruse our site and enjoy your
stay. If you find any information
that you feel needs updating or
something that needs adding to the site
just drop us a line and we'll respond
within 24 hours. |
